Brendan Walton

Brendan comes from Irish golfing royalty. A nephew of Philip Walton who won the Ryder Cup for Europe in 1995 by beating Jay Haas, Brendan has always had a love of the game. He had a very successful amateur career as a junior and played golf as an amateur throughout his college life.

After gaining a diploma in Sports management from UCD and a degree in Finance from Maynooth Brendan decided that he wanted a career in golf. He signed up to the PGA and served his time as an assistant at The Island Golf Club for three years, qualifying in 2013.

Brendan is a fantastic character and mimic. He delights in entertaining his students and colleagues with renditions of touring pros and golf characters past and present.

After qualifying he spent some time in California coaching at the exclusive Bel-Air Country Club. He soon decided that Ireland was where he wanted to be – we think that the weather here was a major draw – or maybe they didn’t get his jokes over there. Brendan returned from the States in late 2017.

He now splits his time bewteen coaching at Roganstown and playing on the Irish PGA region circuit. He enjoys coaching on a day to day basis and is a master with Trackman technology. He is available for individual & group lessons either on the range or on the course.

Gary Murphy

Gary Murphy is a Former European Tour player. He represented Ireland from 1988 – 1995 at all amateur levels. The highlight of his amateur career was winning the Irish Close Championship in 1992.

He turned pro in 1996 and has played in over 350 tour events as a touring professional. Highlights includes two tournament wins, including the Azores Open. He also made two Open Championship appearances in 1997 and 2003. He retired from tournament play in 2013 due to injury.

He is now a Sky sports, European Tour Productions and Golf Channel commentator. His media career has developed since his playing days have stopped with radio and corporate broadcast appearances, but his passion has always been golf and he is delighted to be part of the coaching staff at Roganstown.

Having embarked on a successful playing career it was a natural progression to return to the coaching side of the game. He has been fortunate to work with some of the coaching greats of the game; Bob Torrance, Butch and Claude Harmon and Pete Cowen are just some of the coaches that he worked with during his playing career. That library of knowledge is one of Gary’s greatest attributes as he now embarks on the coaching side of the game. He is available for individual and group lessons.

Not only is Gary a terrific technical coach he also has huge experience in the high-pressure world of professional play. Most amateurs can play a decent round of golf but often struggle to win or compete when the pressure is on; Gary has been there and done that and therefore can certainly help with realising your golfing potential.
